The story of The Prophet is set in a Mediterranean village by the sea. Kamila cleans the house of exiled artist and poet Mustafa. Her most difficult task, however, is to keep her young daughter, Almitra, out of trouble. The Prophet, written by Lebanese-American writer Kahlil Gibran, is one of the most successful collections of poetry ever written. The film of the same name features the voices of Salma Hayek, Liam Neeson, Quvenzhané Wallis, John Krasinski and Alfred Molina, directed by Roger Allers (“The Lion King”). Filmmakers Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea), Bill Plympton (Guide Dog), Joan Gratz (Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase) and Nina Paley (Sita Sings the Blues) brilliantly succeeded in fusing Gibran’s poetry with some samples of stunning animation. Music is by Damien Rice, Glen Hansard, Gabriel Yared and Yo-Yo Ma.
