From the cold Land of Gray and Grim, one day Lotta finds herself in the Outliers' Castle, a place where children are allowed to be 'different.' She feels perfectly comfortable there. Together with new friends, she celebrates her freedom and learns to be proud of who she is.

Adèle, 12, doesn't want to go back to school where she has difficulty making contact with others. The place where Adèle feels good is on her skateboard, a symbol of total freedom. Often surrounded by boys, she'd like to be with more girls, so Adèle questions the kind of woman she wants to become.

Onderweg is about thirteen-year-old Renée who is in class when the lesson is disrupted with the news that a girl from another class is missing. While her mother is concerned about the disappearance, Renée is head-to-face with her former best friend Lina. Slowly Renée looks at her surroundings differently and what it can mean to grow up.
