Cyrus, a twelve-year-old native boy, discovers his disabled father's failed suicide attempt by finding a bullet hole in their house wall. Cyrus strives with all his might to restore a sense of efficacy in his helpless father and reclaim his role as a father in the family. Eventually, the father accepts Cyrus's affection and hope enters their lives.
