"Young Audience Award,
the perfect youth event in Corona time, was a success."

Last week young people from all over Europe watched the three nominated films of the Young Audience Award (YAA) 2020, organised by The European Film Academy.

For the fifth time in a row, Filem'On - the International Film Festival for Young Audiences - brought the Young Audience Award to Belgium! This year JEF also joined to reach even more young cinephiles.
Hilde Steenssens, director of Filemon: "YAA is a kind of Eurovision Song Contest but for arthouse youth films, simultaneously organised in 32 countries. The young people were very excited to be part of this international live event and this in the comfort of their homes. Ideal for the Corona era".
Throughout the week the Belgian youngsters discussed their ideas and thoughts during Zoom meetings. This Sunday, the winner was announced  in a beautiful online Award Ceremony, moderated by our very own Belgian ex-juror, Ivana Noa.

This year the statue went to "My brother chases dinosaurs" by Stefano Cipani. The winner of YAA 2020 will be screened during the Filem'On festival from October 28th until November 3rd 2020, in the presence of the director and this time hopefully at the cinemas!
