Saoirse is a little girl and is the last of the Selkies, women from Irish and Scottish legends who turn into seals. When her mother does not return from the sea, her father sends Saoirse and her brother to their grandmother in the city. they soon escape and set off on a wondrous journey toward the sea. along the way, Saoirse is able to free other fairy tale creatures from the modern world.
