The goldfish Ponyo, a kind of orange little ghost with red hair – escapes from the submarine from her grungy dad and ends up in the bucket of the lonely 5-year-old boy Sosuke. It’s love at first sight, so much so that Ponyo decides to become human. But once Ponyo has hands and feet, by taking some magic droplets, the natural balance is disturbed. A tsunami arrives and the end of the planet seems near. The hand-animated film by Japanese master in animation Hayao Miyazaki is inspired by a tale of Hans Christian Andersens and is an ecological parable. The film was praised and awarded for its valuable themes, visual design and simultaneous appeal to young children and all audiences.
