A couple of polar bears eagerly await the birth of their cub. Suddenly they are attacked by a pack of wolves and manage to escape in the nick of time. Shortly afterwards the female bear gives birth to a stillborn cub. Further on, the wife of an Inuit hunter gives birth to a healthy son whom they call Little Bear. The polar bear takes advantage of a moment of inattention by Little Bear’s mother and runs off with the baby.
